From the recording We Are Born Blind

Lyrics

NO PLACE TO REST

Foxes have their burrows- birds they have their nests
But the man called Jesus - has no place to rest
He wanders through the nation -Like he wanders through my mind
The author of salvation- sent to earth to die

And we sit in our big houses - watching our T.V.’s
While he stands outside and calls us
Come follow me

Pity the poor woman - living on her own
Left to raise her children - in a fatherless home
Forced to leave her babies - to a strangers care
Jesus Oh please save me - from the children’s stares

And we sit in our warm houses -with out friends and family
And we say to the world outside our windows
Don’t bother me

Oh what can we do - Oh what can we say
When the children are dying and hungry
It’s too late to pray

Wherein do we love him – how can we prove
When our hearts are hardened – and cannot be moved
We see him in our cities – we see him on our streets
You can keep your pity – that he cannot eat

And we sit our fancy restaurants- eating till it hurts
While the Son of man stretches out his
For a cup to quench his thirst

Oh what can we do - Oh what can we say
When the children are dying and hungry
Who is to blame?

You ask when have we done this
We sweat it can not be
But what is done to the little children
The same is done unto me

And we go to church on Sunday -but it doesn’t mean a thing
When the children’s cries reach up to the sky
So loud we can’t hear the church bells ring

Oh what can we do
Oh what can we say
When the children are dying and hungry….
